One of the most recognizable portraits of all time. Sharbat Gula was living as a refugee with her grandmother and siblings in Pakistan, as her parents were killed in the Soviet Strike.
Featured on the cover of the June 1985 issue of National Geographic,. The photograph was taken when she was around 12 years old.
